Bedsores, Pressure Sores or Ulcers - The Ugly Truth
This article shares insights on providing proper care for residents in assisted living facilities, adult homes for the developomentally disabled, and residential care facilities for the elderly.
The normal standard in residential care and assisted living facilities is to have a home health RN come in to provide the treatment the doctor ordered. If the resident is in a nursing home, the RNs and LVN will provide the care. In addition, the nurses teach the direct caregivers about their part in providing repositioning, usually at least every two hours, nutritional monitoring, incontinence hygiene and padding protocol.
